Olivia is Bell! Aaaaah! Given the different roles Anna Torv has played (Olivia, Fauxlivia, Olivia-as-Fauxlivia, and Fauxlivia-as-Olivia [yes, I separate those]) I'm excited to see what she does in Stowaway.

Ok, so I read through all the comments so far, and there are some very interesting conversations going on in reply to some very valid questions. That said, probably the most important question of all about this movie has yet to be asked: does Michelle Rodriguez die?

By all that is holy, I would buy that as a poster at any price. I want this on my wall, maybe even as a mural. It needs to be BIG. Props to Ward Shelly for this; you win the internets

Indeed! I think that we need a human qualifier in there.

As much as I would love for Inception to take home a golden statue for Best Picture, it isn't going to happen. The Academy very rarely give that particular award to a film whose director didn't get a nom., and it is up against some pretty tough competition from The Kings Speech and The Social Network. Best Original

Ah, but then we would be replacing one derogatory terms with another, and our future robot overlords wouldn't abide that.

Oh how I wish I could heart you. Or promote you again, whichever comes first

I do this with books all the time. If I'm stuck trying to pick a book to read, I usually go for the one I haven't read in the longest time - just so that it doesn't feel forgotten.

Meh, it is in line with their spoiler policy under the new design [io9.com]

But it is more or less universally recognized that 'cake' is a lie ;D

Its funny because you didn't even suggest that climate change (I love how global warming has fallen out of use as we understand more about what is happening) wasn't true. The main problem with the article hdgotham linked to is that it is making a definite statement about science, which never really pans out as history

@vurtscribe: My entire cache of profanities is entirely composed of things I have lifted from shows like Firefly and BSG. Just can't help myself, but I love it when you say it in public and you get those few smiles from people who know what's up

@Lawdog: Hahaha. That imaged earned me some rather funny looks when people came to investigate what I was laughing at

@JohnnyZito: +1. I have this weird tick where every time I watch The Princess Bride I spend at least the first half hour afterwards exclaiming "inconceivable!" to anything anyone says. I only really stop when either someone gives me that line, or my girlfriend gives me the "if you say that one more time, I'm going to

@exseraph: The difficulty is that most societies where polygamy is practised aren't so hot on the idea of gender equality. I agree that there are many other ways to deal with the issues facing women, but polygamy will remain a very viable option until gender inequality is addressed.

@hdgotham: Polygamy is also fairly common in areas of Africa. It seems weird from a Western perspective, but if you look at it from more the benefits of the institution (legal standing, protection, a modicum of financial stability) and less from the love/physical intimacy side it does make sense and can work out quite

@Batlife: Towering libraries aren't just for "dinosaurs," I'm in my twenties and I still buy paper books over e-books any day of the week. There is just something about the smell of books, both old and new, that I love. Plastic e-readers don't do it for me, though I will admit that they are convenient for school books.

Books aren't going away, the written word is far too powerful to just disappear. Paper books aren't going to go away either, though they may go into decline. The thing people often forget is that paper books are a much more reliable medium that anything electronic, and serve a dual purpose as both a content delivery
