People are confused with the context of WHERE he was running him wide, which was during his braking pass to the apex (and he’s quoted on this). It was close, but it was clean none-the-less. That is purely strategy and happens all the time at almost every race at some point. Marquez did not have to abruptly change his

The rest of the field just needs to wait 3 seconds before they go, allowing Rossi a clear shot at Lorenzo and Marquez. It would be classic.

It is the rider in the rear’s responsibility to react. He had full view of what Rossi was doing and likely understood why. He then put his head down and turned into him knowing that Rossi wasn’t turned in yet.

He wasn’t pressured into the position of contact at all. The pass was close but not unusually close by any means. It’s not unusual to miss the apex from taking the inside line, and MM had more than enough room to safely correct for that. These types of scenarios happen all the time in racing. But MM clearly

Yamaha is not dropping Lorenzo anymore than they are dropping Rossi. That is one thing I left out in my previous response to Sean’s initial post. That article from Autoevolution is crap and will never be more than words on paper. Lin Jarvis made his statment and although it seems that Yamaha is disappointed (my words)

Oh but Sean, there was SO much more!

Correct. If you watch the video closely, it shows Marquez basically headbutting Rossi’s leg and Rossi responding with nudging him out of the way with his leg. Full disclosure, I’m a fan of both riders and am not giving either one more consideration over the other. But the video does show it pretty clearly.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Sean.

You get a star for the crappy oil kicker!

I agree, Marquez has no right to purposefully and aggressively interfere in the title fight. Racers know that you stay away from messing with the championship battle: you fight fair (and defend your own position) but don’t push it or needlessly interfere or endanger.

I don’t have any problem with what Rossi did. Not one little teeny tiny bit.

Ha! He should be a sportsman and offer to ride right beside Rossi at the start for a balls to the walls race to the finish. But that sort of thing just doesn’t happen.

Despite Rossi going wide, he left racing room.

I did not write this up. I found it on the ADVrider forum. However, it is in summation, how I feel about the situation. Please enjoy!

if he as fast as Rossi is painting him as, isn’t finishing ahead of Rossi a better way to screw with him?

Marquez is totally at fault, and I’m a fan of his. I don’t think Rossi did anything wrong, and now I’m starting to believe Rossi’s claim that Marquez is working to get Lorenzo to win the championship.

The “brake lever” theory does not hold water in my view because the bikes have a brake lever protector just for that specific eventuality. The kick theory also does not hold water. The camera angles are tricky, but Rossi’s foot stays on right up to the point where the contact happens - thus his foot came off because a

There were several “WTF are you doing” hand gestures from Rossi in the previous laps, which only led to a more aggressive Marquez. He would pass aggressively, and then allow himself to be passed just so he could repeat. Rossi slowed on purpose. I believe Marquez initiated the contact and I believe that Rossi reacted
