@BlackYoshi7: We really don't need optical drives. Ever wondered why we call it media? It's a medium. We have plenty of mediums to use. And, many operating systems can be installed with a USB drive. Linux, OS X, and I'm sure Windows can be done, too.

@edosan: Synaptic is easier because you select a program, enter your password, and it installs it for you on the spot. No going to the store or dealing with discs or licenses or anything. I had to learn to use Linux for a class in high school. I didn't make the switch back then because I was still doing PC gaming. I've since switched for a few reasons.
