"In other words: The show doth protest too much.
To put it frankly, I don’t think Supergirl needed to address Superman as directly as it does tonight."

"The Linda Park of Earth-Two, that is, who for some reason thinks she’ll be free of Zoom’s influence if she kills the Linda who briefly dated Barry" - I think the inference was, she could disappear off of Zoom's radar by killing Earth-1 Linda and taking her place; Zoom would think she was Linda-1, and that Linda-2 had…
Kinda does, actually. Hard to get ahold of that movie, haven't seen it yet.
"through the Monolith back in 2001"
It's kinda feeling like Whiners of SHIELD right now; everyone's giving Coulson guff for trying to make the best of an impossible situation, Daisy constantly whining about 'how hard it is for my people' (very 21st century, admittedly), and generally everyone's just feeling sorry for themselves and complaining about…
Yeah… :-( They definitely need to stop and re-focus to find what they had near the end of season one.
As a major Hera fan, this episode was a disappointment; if this was her showcase, it was a fairly pathetic time- I've never heard a 'revealing deep character motivation' speech delivered so perfunctorily and out-of-nowhere. (Not that the actress does poorly; the script just brings it out of nowhere).
'Listen' would probably be my second choice, yeah. That was definitely a turning point for him- and I guess a precedent to his fourth-wall-breaking monologues- but this one felt like… I don't know. He reached a deeper level. It was like Listen was making it through the qualifying heat, to be an acceptable Doctor…
Ironically, as a Clone Wars-hater (as I've posted the last few reviews), AND someone that feels like- AT-AT battle aside- this has been a rubbish season to-date, this was the one that finally hit the 'Ah! THIS is more like it!' mark to me. It was funny, it was clever- and heck, Hondo Onaka was a character I didn't…
Davison's probably about my third-least-favorite Doctor (don't dislike, mind you, just like less than the rest), and even *I* know that Kinda is probably the best story ever. :-)
This was, for me, the moment that Peter Capaldi came into his own as the Doctor, and the best of his era to-date. This was a truly phenomenal bit of writing and of acting; that monologue will be remembered as the Twelfth Doctor's big moment, I think in the way that 'One day, I shall come back,' 'Have I the right?' and…
Iris has evolved into a much more natural, much more likable character this season. BUT, her hissy-fit at the end was a major backslide. In what way is not telling Iris about a past pregnancy 'lying to her'? This smacks of the same entitlement that she wore last season when she found out that Barry was the Flash;…
As someone bemoaning that all his favorite shows (Flash in particular) had come back as pale shadows of themselves this season… now THIS was more like it! Not quite 100% of the cylinders that were firing in season 1, but such a quantum leap up from the last episode, it sure felt like it. Good to have you back, Flash.
Ditto. Surprisingly strong.
"Brave, like Frozen, is one of those titles that does not appear to have earned its stripes to be able to appear so prominently in this show."
Possibly. It could very well be me, poisoned by my anti-Clone Wars bias, and taking things out of proportion. It just feels like the legacy characters are taking thematic center-stage, if not screen time (though that may just be more in fan reaction, even if it is a real phenomenon and not all in my head). :-)
Boo. So instead of the Aliens movie we've been waiting for for decades, we get a sequel to the hot mess that was Prometheus. This feels like it's happening with all kinds of franchises right now- like the 'we can't have more Star Trek on TV because we have to finish the controversial JJ trilogy (and we can't just do…
There's no way you require this much profanity to review a half-hour office comedy.
I take your point. I should clarify…
Yes! This! Exactly. We're trying to build in nostalgia and increase scope without getting a solid foundation of reintroduction or character growth for the core characters. I'd actually like to see them stick with the Rebellion- but if we're going to keep sending them off on recon missions by themselves, at least use…
