I would argue that this is not really cosmetic surgery. Plastic surgery might be the tool but the problem you describe is not cosmetic, it is physical pain.

I think faces are important. Even as infants, we respond to expressions. Looking into someone's eyes is supposed to show you some sort of truth...When we cut our faces open to look like something else, it feels like deception. Plastic Surgery feels like someone is telling you a lie.
