It's really great. Worth it. Don't let the mixed reviews mislead. It isn't perfect, the high points are really fantastic, the best, strongest of her career. She's brutally honest in her writing, which opens her up to the kind of sniveling, self-righteous snark you read in these comments. Its like someone opening

You seem a little too invested in what she would or wouldn't do. I bet you're one of those people who believe she stifled Gavin Rossdale's creativity.

She's actually fron Anaheim .. which has a very strong and vibrant Hispanic cultural representation.
And anyway, how is that different from the Stones 'reappropriating' the syntax and phrasing of blues, country and soul artists? Have you heard Mick Jagger in concert, circa 1970s? He's full on Barry White 'sugah-pie'

Should she stand in front of a piano and sing a dirge about heartbreak? It would still be a song about heartbreak. If Mick Jagger can still write songs about girls and sex and heartbreak, so can Gwen, or Madonna or Janet Jackson. I hate this 'act your age' crap directed at older female artists.

Hollaback Girl was sort of that. People were like 'WTF with the cheerleader shtick Gwen? You're a grown woman..' Blah, blah.. But that was in direct, sarcastic response to Courtney referring to Gwen as a 'cheerleader'. It was a beautiful diss. As for Rossdale, she spent 20 years writing songs about this ass, maybe

I think its a quirky touch. Just like when she sings 'buyed it' ..
Those are the kind of things that give the music a personality. When I read the lyrics beforehand, I thought it was corny, but the way she sings it, and in the context of the song, I loved it.

Ha! As opposed to the ex? I'm the opposite. He's a good-looking southern gentleman, gentleman being the operative word here. And Miss Stefani now looks like a woman that has been properly laid for the first time in her life.
Every No Doubt or Stefani song was always soiled for me because of Rossdale. The thought of

'…with the line “Fill up my Solo Cup when I’m feeling so lonely” particularly standing out..'
That's one of my favorite lines!
Listening to it and reading it as a flat line are two different things. Reminds of why I love Jagger as a singer and lyricist. Listening to a line and the way its delivered are two different

This is nice. Funky song, underrated Stones classic.

Makes you wonder if people bother to read complete sentences anymore on the Internet or just scan words as they conjure up thier snark for a post they believe will impress the world…or someone…
They're so dumbed down that a project like this is lost on them.
