It’s the use of “Otoko-no-ko” that really obfuscate things.
In the japanese dialogue, Bridget refers to themselves as otoko-no-ko — which is basically being gender non-conforming.
There was some drama a month or two ago when the translator for a manga published through Seven Seas decided to change the gender of a character — which actually caused the author and the japanese…
