I’m sorry for your loss.
I’m sorry for your loss.
I have a pretty good idea what you went through. My children and I had to make a similar decision about their mother/my wife last year. It was heart wrenching. But one of the things we discussed was not only her quality of life but ours. While that may sound selfish to some, not considering it is remarkably naive.
I am so sorry for your loss. For a period of weeks after our kids were born, there was a flurry of genetic tests to determine whether they had a condition that would end their lives before they saw one year. We got lucky, but I will never forget those weeks where we were bringing home our babies and discussing end of…
Yes, they called cps. The sherrif showed up!
People actually came out and accused you of murdering your daughter, as if you had a goddamn choice in the matter? That’s just sick. Way to kick people when they are already down.
Well I’m coming out of the woodwork to tell you that you did the right thing and that you are a brave person.
You wouldn’t believe the people that came out of the woodwork though to tell me what a horrible excuse of a person I was...
I am so incredible sorry for your loss and the terrible treatment you have endured because you kindly let your little girl be free.
I agree completely. It’s hard. Terribly hard...but if your body can’t keep you alive due to a terminal non curable or treatable disease, then you should not be alive.
I, too, have had to choose to end my child’s life - in my case, to turn off the machines. In a week it will have been 17 years, and I still can’t think of it too closely. I share your pain, and I send you love.
HUGS. And the line that had me in tears was “without fear.” Please take comfort in what you were able to do for her. It’s all any of us want for the people we love. And I am so very sorry for what must be profound suffering.
As I have written before, my daughter died when she was five in 2011, two months after being diagnosed with an inoperable and malignant brain tumor. There is no cure for her type of tumor - DIPG - and current treatments do little more than extend life for a few months.
I was wondering how long before a Jez commenter mentioned his hair loss.
By law in Germany, everyone gets 20 days. Some jobs (the better jobs, of course) offer even more time off.
My favorite was when the trailer first dropped people were all over this site talking about how terrible Emma’s American accent was, how awful and whiny and nasally it was, until someone posted a video of the real Alexis Neiers talking and people were just like, “Oh...oh no...” Who knew that a real person could try so…
It’s very difficult. The two styles are so different—stage acting on screen comes off as hammy and broad (the John Lovitz “ACTING!” stereotype) and screen actors onstage can look frozen and boxed in (they’re used to doing lots of closeups and face work that can’t translate to a live audience sitting twenty feet away.)
I’ve often wondered if this is why there are so many British actors in SF/Fantasy films (aside from there being a lot of British actors in general). If you’re coming from a background of training heavily to perform on stage before crossing over*, then you’re already in the habit of having to act as though you’re…
Meh, I think the only two things I’ve seen her in are Harry Potter and The Bling Ring, and I thought she nailed Alexis Neiers.
I absolutely agree that sci-fi/fantasy actors are seriously underrated. I also think Emma Watson is seriously overrated.
