USMNT had a chance to pivot after dumping Klinsmann. When they took the ostensibly safe play by hiring Arena, I was fairly certain that it would result in this sort of calamitous end. It was either this, or go to the World Cup and let themselves be utterly humiliated on an even bigger and brighter stage (see: 1998).
Two Worlds, One Cup.
I was thinking the same thing. Trump showing basic human decency to a non-rich brown person would be about the only thing to really rock his base.
Was that in the longer interview? I don’t see it in this article.
See here’s the thing. The things Trump wants to do, if he succeeds, they are bad or dumb things.
When asked whether there is any way that Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey can be forgiven, Bryan Cranston says, “We should let that open... Let’s leave it open for the few who can make it through that gauntlet of trouble and who have reclaimed their life and their dignity and their respect for others. Maybe it’s…
I don’t think you read the article.
Your username seems counterintuitive to the thought that a person should repress their opinions to make you feel better.
Why can’t white people just LIKE some shit? Why do they have to invent a word and pretend to be an ethnicity or race they are not?
that’s one thing, but ‘I regret nothing’ is another.
Yeah most people are not good at issues that don’t personally impact them. Most people aren’t good at taking criticism.
Takei was the first “liberal” that I realized may just be a token guy. He’s tweeted insuling things about the mentally ill before. He’s insinuated that women are “gross”, along with other sexist statements. He’s body shamed and fat shamed, in particular.
I don’t want him to go away and be quiet. I want him to own up to it, genuinely apologize and become an advocate. I want him to redeem himself and learn from it. I don’t think he will, but I want him to.
God. Damnit.
It saddened me to see so many people commenting in the other story that they don’t believe Takei’s accuser, even when they believe accusers in other cases.
Thanks for this. I was also thinking that it was insane that people were applauding her when she refuses to name names but you’re right. I was aware that the British libel laws were insane and what you said makes real sense.
I cut some slack for British and Australians, because their libel and slander laws are different from ours, and a lot more difficult to defend. The burden of proof is entirely flipped. Instead of the plaintiff arguing for why libel/slander has taken place, the defendant has to prove that a libel/slander HASN’T taken…
That’s up to her, and it always should be up to her (and any other victim, mainly because they may not be emotionally ready to out the perpetrator).
It’s like ... I can almost hear millions of assholes everywhere furiously typing out the shittiest possible take on this story.
