I think it’s more of the too-cool-for-school anti-intellectualism. And it annoys the fuck out of me. Dog forbid you wander intellectually, and don’t self-deprecate enough - especially as a woman. One more fucking knife edge women have to walk: be smart but not too smart or else you’re a show-off, think but not too

Still not sure why there is so much hate for Natalie Portman on this site... Could someone please explain what she did wrong other than be that friend that means well, but comes off a little pretentious?

Examples of the negging? I got the impression that, while a lot of what they wrote is ...pompous, her references to her real life and family were just her setting good boundaries and clarifying her priorities.

Now playing

But were they gay? Or were they European?

Nostalgia for watching it with my departed grandma combined with enjoying four good performances.

35. Same.

I am 39 years old, neither hipster nor millennial, and LOVE Golden Girls. I watched when it first ran in the 80s and happily watch reruns today. Strong female friendships, especially amongst seniors, were a novelty on TV both then and now. Plus Dorothy is my spirit animal.

Badass. Throwing his phone into a regular sea would have been petty, but throwing it into the Aegean Sea is some Hera level mythological revenge shit.

Now a doctor is theorizing that her troubles might’ve gone back to a condition called pernicious anemia, the result of a severe vitamin B12 deficiency.

As a devoted TCM fan, I love her but I hate her. Her commentary is incredibly insightful and her fashion is amazing. I hate her because that’s kind of my dream job.

Miss Scarlet is forever my queen, but Mrs. White is a close second.

While I have always been, and will always be, Miss Scarlet while playing the game (my favorite game OF ALL TIME), the Mrs. White from Clue the Movie will live on forever in my heart and the flames forever on the sides of my face.

I think we all know how she died. Mrs. White died in a very suspicious kitchen fire. Stoves aren’t supposed to flare up like that. There were flames... on the side of her face, flames.

The character was great in the movie, but when I played the game with my girlfriends we always fought over who would be Miss Scarlet (ditto for the Monopoly dog).

I’m embarrassed to say that when I saw the title of the article my first thought was “Why replace her with a man?” Stupid subconscious ingrained prejudices.

Agreed! I totally don’t see the chemistry and the “yeah, they are totally fucking” vibe so many seem to see! Tom looks either bored, in pain, or desperately overacts “happiness”, whereas Taylor has always appeared somewhat asexual to me anyway - well, except when she is with Karlie Kloss, obvs.

I feel like people just use Audrey Hepburn to compare any current actress to actresses from the golden era of Hollywood. It’s kinda lazy if you think about it.

The Audrey comparison here baffles me as well. Maybe a Marilyn or a Jayne, but not Audrey.

Which is sad because Pan Am was really good.

Why do I feel like he randomly pulled Audrey’s name out of a hat as a reference. She seems more Veronica Lake/Jayne Mansfield or something, because she’s vampy and lush.
