I would almost guarantee there are notices in the hotel about possibilities of alligators in the water/on the property, and splashing around at the water’s edge is exactly the “prey behavior” alligators look for. Even if it’s not connected, nature finds a way. And alligators can and do travel over land. We have manmade lakes all over the place where I live but they’re still full of native wildlife.
