The issue now, including this very night, is a growing shortage of nurses and medics due to burnout. We were short about four nurses tonight, and that was after borrowing a nurse from the ICU to help us in the ED. That kind of borrowing can be a devil’s bargain, because having her meant we couldn’t send any patients…
He would have to have been connected to a ventilator and other life support in order for that to have worked. And in order for a patient to be intubated, they have to be sedated and given paralytics so they don’t fight the tube. Given how many times and how often he was shown to be awake and upright through his…
My brother is a coronavirologist, and has been studying coronaviruses for 24+ years. He says that the virus’s only goal.is to survive, and in order to do so, it’s going to mutate in ways that make it easier to spread and harder for it to kill its host, because a dead person can’t spread the virus to anyone else.…
The Delta variant isn't deadlier, only more contagious. It's only deadly in places where there are large numbers of unvaccinated people because it causes the number of hospitalized patients to soar past what the medical infrastructure in most countries and regions can handle. Medications and supplies of oxygen, PPE,…

That sounds quite effective. Unfortunately, I don't anywhere to store ice, as my freezer is at capacity with frozen dinners and popsicles and ice cream. I'll keep up with the cool washcloths and baths, tho.
That's a good plan. I may have to do start something similar. I work in air conditioning all day, so when I step outside and meet humidity, it's always an unpleasant shock to the system.
Somehow, that is exactly what it feels like.
Thanks. Here was last night’s view from the grilling area:
Some of my windows don’t open, and many nights, I do leave the balcony door open (the balcony is enclosed and I live on the eighth floor of my building) most nights. I only avoid that on nights like tonight when the humidity stays high and temps do not drop enough to cool things down. I’ve already emptied the…
To be clear, it's not certain that they are cysts. With all the available information from the two sets of mammograms and the ultrasound, they behave and appear like cysts, but only time will tell if they are or not. My BI-RADS score was 3, or "probably benign." That's right in the middle of the scale.
I had a cyst on my back once, too, but I had a sinus infection at the same time, and the anitbiotics I got for that also took care of the cyst, so it never burst. There is a possibility that these may go away on their own, but I'm not banking on that.
Thank you. It's a cool thing to be a part of, and I hope I get to be part of presenting it system-wide. The pharmacy department had a meeting with the hospital leadership, who I call the Big Cheese Assortment, that happened to be an hour after the sim concluded, and they were all very excited about it, especially the…

Forgot to mention the results of the repeat mammogram and ultrasound: I have three small masses, all less than 1 cm and all right next to one another, that appear to be complicated cysts (meaning they have thin, pliant walls, but there are bits of what might be solid debris inside instead of the clear fluid found in…
It has not been as hot in Ohio as in the South and Southwest, but the humidity has been too much for the two window AC units that came with the apartment and five fans, including two box fans, so I bought a dehumidifier, and things have been much more comfortable. I mostly have been using the fans facing outwards for…
Do we know if June knows Janine is alive? I can't remember if the show ever made that connection for us.
Commenting is working again? Oh, frabjous day!
Anyone who has been watching A Late Show for the last 15 months can tell you that it has not been filming since March 2020 from the storage closet, but only the last few months. The bulk of the time, it was broadcasting from Stephen's house, which is why his family became his crew.
