I mean, is a joke about dead kids really funny because of their parents stupid beliefs? I’ll disagree but I guess you do you.

The most recent introduction of those successes was 13 years ago. It’s slightly more than 3-4 but the key point is that it’s still been a long time since they’ve really tried a new software item with serious effort and not a half-hearted and then axed one.
Except this is classic Google/Alphabet, launch something with little proper effort and then cancel it when it doesn’t become immediately a hit in less than five minutes.
It’s just a fucking shame the way Google has dropped the ball so insanely hard with Stadia. It truly could be something great. It breaks the hardware requirement barrier, subscription-service gaming has become accepted thanks to the Game Pass, and they have Google’s internet empire to find other innovative ways to…
I’m not saying this to be snarky, but I’m legitimately surprised that Stadia is still a thing.
LOL!! Okay! I am a snake for helping my friends avoid bad contracts! I am a snake for pointing out predatory practices and encouraging people to get advice to avoid them!
It’s a general principle of ‘work for hire’ that the company you work for owns all your output while you’re on work time.
So, as a lawyer, this kind of stuff is absolutely everywhere. Any situation where there is even a slight power imbalance, you will often have a brutally lopsided contract. Hell, I’ve written some of them!!
I would say the vast majority of indie devs did not take a business course so they don’t understand that they really need to get a lawyer when they’re presented with a contract that is concerning the future of their passion project. Of course, lawyers are expensive and the publishers are presenting you with a contract…
Storytime!
All the comments I’m seeing are quite reserved, you’re being a bit hypberolic with your take here.
Steam has needed a Steam account for 20 years to play games on Steam.. no idea what you even mean?
Fuck walled gardens. My greatest hope for this handheld is that it disrupts the shit out of the market.
So Metroid Prime?
Ari I agree. I mean how are you supposed to see those darn red arrows and which indicate the direction the attacks are coming from in first person games that have the red glow of death.
Yup, I agree on all of your points. It’s 2021. Let’s see what else devs can come up with. Let’s see our characters see a noticeable dip in body language. Maybe some dialogue. Change in music. Clothes being damaged by layers. More blood. In futuristic titles, body status huds. Or maybe go even deeper by not bothering…
Dead space had a GREAT version of this (with the health bar on the back of the suit). Granted that was 3rd person, but you could do something very similar with a 1st person game - have the HUD at the bottom of the screen look like the inside of a helmet and display ammo, health, shield, etc.
Do you mean never finished or never played? I don’t understand how someone can buy a game and never play it. Outside of trying to amass a collection, it being a limited release, or a rare out of print game, why spend the money if you don’t plan on playing it almost immediately. It will likely go down in price. Don’t…
You’re absolutely right. I used to buy every last game I was even remotely interested in. Some were to support smaller devs, some were to support my favorite franchises, while others we just because. Starting this year, though, I’ve switched to only buying something if I intend to play it right way, with a reasonable…
