Alas, sounds like it is no better than the books. I only made it through half of the first one, the writing was so atrocious. I want to connect with this piece of pop culture because it seems it's been so important in some way to many people so I was hoping maybe the movie would be somewhat bearable.
As someone who’s been cheated on, I suspect it’s easier to act like some evil hussy lured your man away than to admit that he just doesn’t respect you. That’s too painful for some. Personally I never had the inclination to blame the other woman. Put the blame where it should be and move on.
The whole idea that it didn’t affect the happy home life is totally absurd. But still that’s not the hostess’s problem.
It doesn’t accomplish nothing to add your voice to the discussion. There are others who feel the same way you do, maybe even some of the seemingly young girls here who might be afraid to speak up or even think differently when they encounter a wall of consensus that porn should be beyond criticism.
Totally agree! Great post. In the past there have been several things used to discredit feminists - that they’re all “ugly”, all hate men, hate sex, are just jealous of other women, etc. Somehow, this one has persisted. If you have anything to say about porn, you are one of those haters-of-sex feminists! Pop feminism.
