My point is that of you do it in a certain way, perhaps the person will be more likely to act more self aware in the future. Because I'd rather they stop littering instead of me coming at them with nasty behavior that only makes me feel good in the moment. But whatever.
Not in my experience. Whenever I've called someone out on it (not aggressively) they usually seem embarrassed, not outraged or offended.
As my momma always used to say, "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." In my experience, throwing the vinegar on them only makes them want to replicate your behavior.
