Daleks aren't robots; they're just creatures encased in metal shells. I'm not really sure; I'm just getting into this show, actually; I do remember him shooting a Dalek with one, so I think the screwdriver would work easily, he just prefers not to kill them, because he's so nice.

Stop the suit, I'd imagine his joints might lock up. I didn't say he'd die, I'd say he'd start dying, meaning weakened, cut off his oxygen supply, suffocate in his own tin helmet. Also, perhaps he would deadlock a door or something, or materialize the TARDIS around them for a quick escape.
