If you look at them in a vacuum sure. But if you compare them to the number of people who are killed with blunt objects or stabbed then you see how small the gun violence number is. And if you look at people killed by long guns like this guy used, then you’re talking about a number as small as 300 people a year. So

yeah, but if you look at violent crime stats you’ll find they’re a lot closer than you think

But you’re only looking at gun deaths in those countries, and the fact that guns are all but banned there will of course artifaisally skew any numbers.

How do you define “easy to obtain”? In my state when I go to the store to buy a gun I need two forms of ID, a current bill validating my address, and to pass a background check.

True, more people die by gun violence than other people intentionally driving into crowds or pressure cooker bombs, but they’re both statistically insignificant enough that they equal out to just about the same thing.

You mean look at a country who’s own police chiefs have stated that it was a bad idea in the long run. Or did you not consider the fact that A) they’re on an island, B) they have a more homogeneous population, and C) had violent crime spike after the policy was enacted and have had statistically higher violent crime

I agree with you that part of the problem is the political environment, its not a left or right thing. Look at the tactics used by AntiFa, a left wing group becoming more and more violent as time goes on.

Because there are better tools for the job. I wouldn’t use screwdriver to try and cut wood, but I could use that screwdriver to stab someone just as easily as a knife.

Firstly, that 30K number is 60% suicide, and while that’s sad you cant include those in violent crime.

Well firstly, killing one person is a lot easier than killing one elephant, so I’m not sure where you’re going with that.

A statistically small number. Probably just as small as the percentage of people who die involved in an active shooter incident.

“ Have you seen a gun carry a person shot by an ambulance? Right, neither do I.” No, but I’ve seen guns used to keep myself or my loved ones from having to get into an ambulance.

But its just as fast as driving a truck into a crowd of people, right? Or maybe using pressure cookers to blow people up?

This is exactly the problem. Right here. We refuse to try and talk with people who view things differently than us.
