Wow I am super surprised at the amount of shitty comments directed towards pregnant women who might have a drink every now and then. Like step the fuck back, this is my life and baby, not yours. All this fake concern reeks of forced birthers to me.

Yea I am due on Saturday because of trying that stupid ass contraceptive method. So, thanks, but no thanks Pope Frankie.

But my kitty won’t eat wet food. He is a stubborn thing and I wanted him to be as healthy as possible but all he does is lick the wet food a little bit then leave it out till it dries up and gets gross. So he gets dry food.

Fuck you. Seriously if you think this is an okay thing that happens, fuck you. There is no reason that an adult man should be this demeaning and disrespectful to someone who is paid to help keep him healthy to play his precious football. And this is not the “worst” thing that happened to her. If you read the article

The water from Lake Huron is treated by the Detroit water treatment center, which yes uses proper anti corrosion technology. The Flint water treatment facility did not treat the Flint River water with anti corrosives which caused the water to leach lead from the pipes.

You really are fighting the good fight in this comment section. I’m glad to see it.

Yea, but that has no bearing on this story at all.

I hate this so freaking much. I was a student on April 16th, and this shit kills me. Anyone who went to school at VT loves it, in spite of what has happened there. And I feel like this rhetoric takes away from the focus on this poor girl who lost her life and instead focuses on a fact that has NOTHING to do with why

I hate Mario Lopez so much.

There are some sections of public piping as well as some house piping that are lead, not just the joints.

Yes, I agree that the TTHM levels are under control now, that was an earlier issue that has been remedied at this point. I am pretty sure they have been below legal limits since summer of 2015, but I could be wrong.

Well the lead is coming from the pipes, not the Flint River water supply. I don’t know enough about lime softening, as my plant uses ion exchange as the primary way to soften water. I wonder if that process would work if the leaching occured after the treatment plant or the lead would already have to be in the water.

You are correct that the Flint Water Treatment Plant was not treating the water for how corrosive it was. I mean the GM plant in Flint stopped using the water 6 months after they switched to the Flint River because it was corroding metal they were using to make cars. But the pipe infrastructure was and is still very

Let me echo what sunshineaya said. The water from Flint River is corrosive. The Flint Water Treatment Plant (FWTP) was obviously treating the water before it was being sent to the public, but how they treated it was a problem as well as how corrosive the water was. FWTP was treating the water for bacteria and organic

Here is the homepage for the VT research team. There is a tab that has a list articles that goes back to before they switched from Detroit water to the Flint River. It is amazing (in a bad way) how this whole situation has played out.

If anyone wants to fill an hour of their time, here is an awesome radio cast about the water crisis happening in Flint, Michigan. This is a pretty messed up situation, which makes it super interesting. And this is done very well.

Its Virginia Tech, not UVA.

I don’t even know how to deal with this. I was at Virginia Tech on April 16th and at the time I thought I handled it well. I was not on the same side of campus as the main building involved in the shooting and I did not personally know anyone who died. But as the years go on and this happens more and more, I just feel
