I kind of have to respectfully disagree. Saldana is mediocre. However, as written Lt Uhura in the films is three dimensional and nuanced in a way that the original was not (that is not a dig against Nichelle Nichols who gave the character as much depth as she could, considering). I don’t think it matters THAT much. Angela Basset has played Betty Shabazz, Tina Turner and Rosa Parks.
