I think its a bad idea, but not because of fuel economy. Modern crossovers are getting damn near what their sedan counterparts are.

Agreed. This is one of the reasons (their trim limitations) I didn’t go with the Mazda6 a few years ago. Would definitely consider again if that 2.5T has a manual option in the GT!
