I couldn’t disagree with this more. Playoff hockey is extremely unpleasant when I’m watching my own team—it’s a near-constant heart attack. From a pure enjoyment perspective, I’d much rather watch neutral teams. I can enjoy the actual game more, even if I’m not as invested in the outcome.

“Lazarus said he has conveyed his shave requests to NHL officials; the NHL Players Association; and even players in individual discussions.”

Prosecutor: Where did the money go?

I usually think the Crawford hate is overdone. He’s been very good for a very good team. But that 3rd goal last night... it was like he didn’t expect anyone to be in front of his net. He made no effort to break up the pass or to get over. I don’t get it. Every goalie lets up softies, but you rarely see an NHL goalie

Seriously. So many missed opportunities for the Hawks. And Crawford DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!

Watching Sham, a tremendous horse who would have been a triple crown contender any other year, in the Belmont is amazing. He ran with Secretariat for half the race, and got beat by 50 lengths. That is what happens to a normal horse when it tries to run at that pace for a mile and a half.

I guess you don’t fear little boy jail when you’re already in little boy hell.

I was going to complain about portrait mode, but the effort for a perfect title frame makes up for it.

University of College at State.

And their rival is California University of Pennsylvania!

I mean, some of these schools aren’t even trying. “Indiana University at Pennsylvania”? Those are two completely different states. Fake.

I get that banning fake colleges is better for the game, but I’m going to miss watching UNC.

This is how I imagine you show up to their office windows to ask about Trails in the Sky:

You forgot the subtitle, “Unless you own an Xbox”.

Tyler Colvin suffered a pierced lung a few years back.

If they’d make the bat handles thicker, this wouldn’t be such a big problem. I remember watching Jon Lester pitching once and a bat shard came right at him. I swear to God, time slowed down and I really thought Lester was going to get impaled (it missed him). Make it a rule that bat handles need to be thicker or that

S.L. Price’s Heart of the Game centered on the incident that killed Mike Coolbaugh and the devastating effect it had on Tino Sanchez, the batter whose line drive killed Coolbaugh. Excellent, but very sombering, read.

I’ve told this here before but I was at a Diamondbacks game in around ‘99 or so and saw almost the exact same happened. It was on the first base side and the woman was sitting probably 10 rows up. Can’t remember who it was but a lefty on the other team just lost his grip on a swing-and-miss and sent the bat flying

Even if you are paying attention, there’s always a chance for disaster. The Pirates had a coach, Don Long, who was seriously injured from a broken bat, and he was also watching the batter swing. Stuff happens sometimes

It is only a matter of time and someone being seriously injured until they extend the nets, just like the NHL did.
