I uh.. mentioned all three of those as factors for its success.

O’Bannon was incredibly bitter about Giger’s alien design, saying that, in a crucial pre-production meeting, the Swiss artist “completely ignored the beach ball [O’Bannon] had brought along as inspiration.”
I don’t think the reviewer was talking about the characters have a sense of detachment from their lives, but that the actors and direction have a sense of detachment from the material. Like they’re winking at the audience, rather than owning the setting. The anime certainly winks at the audience - just watch ‘Mushroom…
It feels like Disney’s animation has gotten really stale after they moved to digital, every single movie since Tangled seems to look exactly the same. Just wish they’d alternate art styles or something between movies, the last animated movie I remember with a distinct style was Princess and the Frog.
“Reviewer didn’t like something that I haven’t even seen but want to like = reviewer is dumb and bad.”
Why do you keep coming here? Go somewhere you won’t be so miserable. The fact that you feel the need to comment multiple times on every Barsanti article is a bizarre addiction you’re inflicting on yourself. Be free, fly away and find peace.
My first thought was that he’s done a good job explaining why this show sucks.
Few points:
My dear boy, why don’t you just try acting?
They were all players in Fighting Baseball on Super Famicom.
I disagree that he is likable. He always seemed like an annoying know it all who somehow copied Obama’s talking style. Guy also did multiple about faces on things he used to believe.
i will never forgive myself for becoming aware of politics. can’t believe i’m gonna know who this guy is for another 40 years.
Isn’t the incentive to actually try supposed to be because you love decorating tho
I don’t think Gerri is playing Roman, really. I think she likes him and wants him to succeed and is setting him up for that by keeping him out of his own way. Keeping Tattoo Man as back pocket leverage is the smarter play.
Hey, I don’t really care, but for future spoiler warnings of recent shows, you might want to put the name of the series before the thing being spoiled instead of after.
My 18yo daughter was at the TS show. When the surge happened she was terrified, and with the help of a friend was able to fight were way back out of the crowd. She was so upset/disturbed they left the show. Same thing happenedd to me in ‘89 at Monsters of Rock. Was about 80 feet from stage when Van Halen came on, and…
I’ve never understood that argument. Are fictional movies featuring a war off limits whenever a real war is happening (which is all the time somewhere)? Anyway, the book (which is good) isn’t really about a pandemic -- that’s just the backstory for the reason why civilization has collapsed in the present of the story.
I don’t care if there is a pandemic still going. You should read Station Eleven.
GotG 2 is better than the first one, and Spider-Man Homecoming and Thor Ragnarok should be ranked even higher, but...yeah, pretty much. Dr. Strange was disappointingly dull and deserving of the no. 15 spot, but it should at least get honorable mention for best score. In that it’s a Marvel movie score that I can…
I’m sure this list won’t cause any problems among the commentariat, we’ll all just nod moderately, and be about our day.
