I read the books and played the games. The Netflix series story adaptation does not bother me so much. But Cavill can never be replaced. Hemsworth will be a downgrade no matter how well he does. I don’t even think his brother could pull it off.

I’m not sure you can tell from up there on your soap box, but a lot of people are certainly able to fully grasp that any adaptation that drives off the central star that made fans enjoy the show is certainly not a good adaptation, and doesn’t “slap”.
Faithful or otherwise, if you lose Cavill, you’re not going to make…
Is that last line sarcasm?
“Along with some tired references to tentacle porn, a genre that hasn’t been popular since the late 80s.”
Disco Stu says aishiteru!
Which is weird, given The Simpsons has already done a Westworld thing, one that lasted an entire episode and is one of the series’ all-time greats, but I guess 1994 was long enough ago (and the modern HBO series so different) that they feel like they can do it all over again and newer viewers won’t even notice.
It was remastered in 2019! I haven’t played the remastered version yet but I have it sitting on my Switch.
This just makes me want to play the 2009 game again.
Preorder retroactively canceled!
I kid. I never play Mercs >_>
I assume you mean the “living city” part. The art style is generally pretty good imo. The NPCs have more variety, and they’re better drivers, but they’re still wooden. At least they improved the cops.
Anything that even has a whiff of “this might become popular” attracts naysayers by the droves.
I feel like this looks like a well-made show and so I will start to watch it and pass judgement later.
Imma head off the naysayers by saying, fuck yeah. Can’t wait.
“While the whole world has been notified of the death of a person with a substantial connection to a bloody history of imperialism and colonialism”
I’m not even sure where to get started but it’s a FUCKING SAMURAI GAME SET IN THE 13TH CENTURY, did you really think honor wouldn’t or shouldn’t play a part in the story? The entire fucking point is that this code of honor is unworkable and unrealistic, that’s why the literal last boss fight is against the one…
This honestly might be the most facile, incomprehensible read on a video game I think I’ve ever seen. I am genuinely, utterly baffled at how badly you misunderstood literally every facet of this game.
Joyless slog? Compared to Assassin’s Creed!? Um, what?
I’d previously thought of ancient Greece as a stuffy and intellectual world because my main exposure to the country was through learning about it in public school. But Odyssey showed me that ancient Greeks could be fuckups.
Japanese gamers liked GoT. A lot. And it’s very similar in theme to many samurai video games Japanese have made, like Bushido Blade or Way of the Samurai. Even Japanese portray old timey Japanese as completely obsessed with honor (and then the modern form of that is the Yakuza games)! So this seems like some extreme…
“Before I get into my specific gripes about Ghost, I feel compelled to note that some people have responded to the announcement of Red by commenting about how we supposedly have too many open-world games set in Japan.”
