Aw, that’s cute. I guess if you aren’t a socialist toolbag here you are a Trumper? Got to love you folks on the Left who consistently drive centrists like myself away from voting Democrat (or at all).

If we didn’t have a minimum wage at all, labor would be valued even lower,
reducing the number of employees they pay.
Sounds like someone has a superiority complex. You having a bad day at Baskin-Robbins? Tough customers? Poor kiddo.
And you are? And you know my qualifications? No? Fuck off then.
So? That is on the workers, bud. They want a voice, they got to unionize. They don’t like their stagnating wages, they need to push for better.
Kinja is shit for having discussions with more than one person.
HamNo, is that you?
The market sets the value on wages. Profits are up. Good! That means growth - more jobs, more hours, more pay (albeit it has been relatively stagnant there). Doesn’t mean we should expect the gov’t to start dictating the market. Go down that road and you wind up with a failed Socialist state.
They do share in the profits. That is what wages are. Not sure what you think they deserve beyond that. You get what you earn, not what you think you deserve. That is why your idealistic Socialist crap doesn’t reflect reality. You think people deserve something, when the market says they haven’t earned it.
Eh. It is info and insight. I am curious to see what other studies come out, because apparently this is one of many - so maybe with a few more studies we will get a more definitive perspective either way. For now, I see the results as likely but not absolute.
If you said, “The answer to the question is missing from Baquet’s response,” you are correct! Did Dean Baquet—or, perhaps more relevant, the CEO, publisher, vice chairman, and EVPs, who all have multimillion-dollar pay packages—consider taking pay cuts in a real or symbolic effort to mitigate these layoffs?
Fucking what? They should own the company? Uh, only if they all collectively started it. Otherwise, who are they to own something they didn’t create? That is some idiotic Socialist nonsense. They do share in the profits - that being their wages. Compensation is not at all tied to how much money a person makes for a…
it was counted not as a better job, but as a low-wage job lost as a result of the minimum wage.
Huh. Didn’t seem like it. Damn the internet.
And? You want to see someone lose their 30 hours a week income to what... satisfy your need for someone to get 40 hours? Fucking heartless right there.
Uhhh... no, that isn’t how the labor market works. You pay a wage based on work performed, not on what someone deems a “livable wage”. If the job is worth $7.25 an hour, why should they make $15? Does that not devalue the worker who has invested in themselves enough to organically earn $15? See the issue?
Because most companies didn’t get a bump in payroll to compensate for the increase in pay? So cutting hours to keep labor costs down is their only option. Especially small businesses, because larger ones could cut into profits much easier (lol, shareholders wouldn’t let that happen). If you had three employees working…
Aka total fucking hypocrites
