I am not surprised by this but it does continuously disappoint me, the majority of instances where they’ve done this in the show (minus Bill/Franks relationship, that deserved expansion) have, in my opinion, been to it’s detriment. It’s as if the showrunners heard someone say “on the nose” and went “Yes, that’s what

Eh. I disagree in this case. The show needs to start laying the groundwork for Ellie to develop into the vengeful mess she becomes in Part 2. Our time with these characters is limited - and I just don’t see general audiences accepting Ellie’s animalistic killing of David if it came off as her killing him out of

The article is just drenched in outrage. This is on par with the kind of burn-it-all-down writing you find in response to a tweet about how maybe a 25% tip for take-out is a bit much.

Yeah, my dream Harry Potter game was always basically “Persona with a Harry Potter” skin. Make me feel like I’m actually a student at Hogwarts, darn it! When I found out that this game was not going to remotely be that and instead another generic open-world RPG, I quickly lost interest.

I thought the same thing! I thought the whole draw of the game was actually getting to be a Hogwarts student in an open world, but it sounds like the actual student portion isn’t really there. I wouldn’t expect them to do something Persona-like if they really want players to explore, but classes hardly having a place

And I think if you had to play a school simulator in this game then it’d be objectively less fun. That wasn’t the point the of the game. But then this site looks for things to hate on with the game. Like the line “lets you do lots of murders with no repercussions” - you mean like every other RPG on the planet???

Awfully convenient that she chooses to express this in the most performative, non-specific way possible, on social media, followed by a carefully curated Massengill-style photo for maximum sympathy clout without actually having to defend her accusations in any way shape or form. Instagram reality in every way

I’m actually kinda upset that it isn’t just Persona but Harry Potter, as Persona could translate very well into Harry Potter. Just finagle the combat into being something else, and you’d have a genuinely good “school simulator” with Hogwarts. Bare minimum, they could have copied the old stat bars from GTA and apply

I think for them to have made a Hogwarts school simulator they would’ve had to make a very different game. It is a little weird that you just go to one class randomly at different parts of the year, but it’s ultimately just a backdrop for you to learn new spells and have some classroom interactions. The school is

This game seems to have been well received by many... but one sentence from this article gave me pause: “your character only has to go to a single class in each subject, and aside from the forced cutscenes that find you waking in your common room quarters, there’s no sense of the days passing the way they would

Personally, I’d actually still call it a win, and am glad it exists as is as opposed to not at all, I just wish Bluepoint would have remained a little more faithful to the artistic vision instead of changing things that were deliberate decisions for the sake of environmental story telling for no reason other than,

I just thought Forbidden West was a very mediocre sequel narratively, with a few downright flat performances, but a name can indeed be a market influence. The initial glean was over for me by FW. Something about the pacing and the characters was just far less compelling to me in FW than ZD.

It’s a dart. Or a missile. Its performance comes from thrust not lift, is what I’m getting at. Or more accurately, its relative thrust to drag. Yes, there is some lift, but its tiny compared to it just being a low drag dart. It’s a clever interpretation of what a paper airplane is...but I would say this is a record

wild how i wrote this to specifically call out halo infinite then didnt even need to mention it by name

Sort of but not really? Spiritfarer is a resource management game/life sim (afterlife sim?) whereas Outbound Ghost is more of a lighthearted RPG. Both are really charming in their own ways, but I don’t think they have much in common beyond the basic goal of helping characters cross over.

haven’t played it but based on what i know, yeah it’s a kinda similar concept

This is literally the first time I’ve seen it.

A few years ago, shit like this would have clearly been the work of Harvey Weinstein playing press games to try and drag down EEAAO’s Oscar chances. Like, smellable from ten miles away. But now it’s just the internet.

No, that is what you are saying it means.

You could make this list 100 games long and still be leaving good games off.
