Ah. My brother lived in Boone a bit and...I can see that happening there. But I have some hope. Like, most of my classmates and friends are liberal and a few still live in Northern IA. My whole family is very liberal and stayed in (or moved back to) our hometown. So there are liberals there, they’re just practicing

Thank you. Oh My God!! It is not as if liberal Iowans only live in Des Moines or Iowa City. Comments like this drive me insane.

This is somewhat untrue. His district was strictly NW but now encompasses North Central / NW Iowa. Which includes Story County (Ames) which went blue. After they re-districted and they still didn’t unseat him with the Ames voters my mom lost all hope. I think voters have been somewhat apathetic towards him and

You mean Misery-ian. ;)

This is my home district. The Democratic Party gave up on it after re-districting. Literally, they offer very little in support to those who oppose him and local news rarely cover his ‘finer’ moments. Also, a lot of the counties in this district went red or just barely blue in Obama’s elections.

He was raised Catholic. He become Evangelical in college, as I recall.

“And I’ve got news for these wannabe rich people. They’re not rich enough for the GOP to have their backs.”

I just snorted. This is my mom’s theory.

Yep, yep, yep! The day after the election my SIL (who voted trump) wrote on FB ‘congratulations to Pres. Trump and VP Pence (who is a godly man I greatly admire)‘. You could just see her salivating at the idea of Pence becoming President.

Kids, you either don’t have them or an uber supportive spouse that doesn’t work crazy hours. My husband does work crazy hours and thank god for online shopping because actual shopping with a toddler and a preschooler is h*ll. And, actually, even if I go to a B&M store I am still likely to have problems because a. I

Yes! This! My husband is trilingual & speaks Malay language with his family. But we live in Japan. While I was studying Japanese and he was fluent it was hard to practice together because we had been together speaking only English for ten years. He told me ‘I look at Little Brother and think in Malay, I look at you
