I have the exact same issue with my FIL who drives a HEMI-powered Jeep Commander and thinks his engine sounds good. It’s both nauseating and maddening.

In theory it’s not a terrible idea for us. Neither my wife nor I have chronic conditions or major health care needs. The issue has been two emergency hospital visits for my wife a year apart, both of which hit her individual out-of-pocket max. We were on track to save up our deductible the first year before that

I like a good beer, will drink a crappy one in a pinch (Corona, Bud, Coors, nothing with light in the name), and none of those things describe me.

Can confirm. Swapping H4s onto my VW was among the best upgrades I ever made, right next to the disc brake conversion that cost 20x (no joke) as much.

The supercharger has 30% more displacement than the largest of my 3 cars. That’s absurd.

I had to take a second look when the photography was brought up. The film complemented the car so well that I didn’t give it any thought initially. The color, softness, and depth is just lovely.

I would argue that the peak for the adrenaline junky happened about 15-20 years ago, before cheap video recording was widespread enough to harshly punish anyone interested in having fun.

I’ve seen this in all branches of engineering. It’s not surprising really, few engineers wind up working on what they are really enjoy. Many just have an obsession with making things better and take what job they can get. That’s how I wound up in elevators, but I’ve since found it to be a fascinating field.

Trips to Costco for your in-laws? There has to be a story here.

I get the track safety issue, but find this maddening. The driver is doing the right thing by keeping his hooning to the track, but getting in trouble for doing it there.

1950 called, they want you back in the office. Something about a lack of witty sexual banter and ass grabs.

Why are we not funding this??

Where can I sign up for this tax return that would fund a Viper?

I wish I could’ve joined in with my ugly yellow VW. Wrong side of the pond though...

My Focus is cowering in the parking lot knowing this is its most likely fate once it becomes unusable as a DD.

We signed a 72 month lease at 2.89% interest for my wife’s Escape. That beat my bank’s offer of 2.94% for 48 or 60 months. It made sense for payment flexibility. We have the income to pay much faster and expect that income to continually increase, but it didn’t make sense to tie it all up in a car payment when we had

Normally I’d agree regarding drawing conclusions from rentals, but it had less than 2000 miles when I picked it up. Practically showroom fresh but just enough miles to be broken in. No squeaks or rattles to be found.

The only good thing I had to say about the brand new 2016 Malibu I was given as a rental for 2 weeks was that it was a car and had Android Auto (which was cool). It was otherwise entirely uninspired and surprising inefficient for a car that could barely get out of it’s own way.

Dissenting opinion: this works in my old VW, not in my much newer Focus. In the VW, it is easy to cruise at 35 in 3rd and not get in trouble. In the Focus, I’m more likely to explore the upper reaches of the tach, which be 80-90 in the same gear.
