I went to law school, and I’ve heard some absolutely absurd arguments in my time, but holy crap on a cracker, this takes the cake.
Independent, self-supporting women terrify them. It’s harder to chain someone to the stove or the marital bed when they have skills and resources.
The key words here:
“But - but - why won’t you let me participate in your event raising awareness about problems I’ve spent my entire life enabling? Why are you being so intolerant?”
They know exactly what they’re doing. This is the same playbook women like Phyllis Schlaffly and Anita Bryant played by. Trample the rights of other women, then double down on women of color, next play the victim. Feign surprise that the women you’re helping to oppress have “rejected” you.
They believe that the women’s movement has discriminated against them.

This was the main thing I harped on during the election. I don’t care that Hillary wasn’t perfect or not inspiring or whatever. Think. Of. The. Goddamn. Courts. A court like this (or worse, depending on when/who retires) is going to have lasting effects for years and years.
