I think it has more to do with him acting like an asshole in general than just the silly memes. I’m just not sold that it’s 100% political.

I completely agree. There was a little dig in saying that maybe he “doesn’t want to be the guy”, but that’s kinda what Heyward said himself. It really does seem like a stretch to say Wainwright is acting like a scorned lover or something.
