Yeah, a combination of East Side Access and a new Penn Station could definitely make this plausible. And this could allow a change in where people live and work- people can get from Brooklyn or Queens to Stamford or New Rochelle somewhat comfortably... that would be a huge pain in the ass now. Could see it clearing

Yeah, there would be two branches of the New Haven line, some trains going into GCT, others into Penn Station- basically to go into Grand Central, it will take the normal route, merging with the Harlem line and going over the lift bridge into the city. For Penn Station, it follows the Amtrak line going along the east

Only the new haven line- it will use the existing Amtrak northeast corridor tracks to get there. In fact, they already do this during football season:

The Oatmeal seems to be pretty darn accurate...

$400 a foot- I think that's what Monster cables go for at Best Buy.

Cartman lost weight since the police sketch in Free Wilzyx

Maybe I am missing something, but how is this different than Siri, Google now or Cortana? Most of us carry around some kind of smart phone and that can do almost all of what Echo can do. Plus Echo is tied to a room- if it is plugged in the living room, you can't use it in the bedroom. The phone I always have on me

It does happen- you can't run Chips Challenge, Jezzball, Skifree and those other Windows 3.1 games on 64 bit Windows machines. Ironically, I was able to get it working on my mac though

Now playing

a paring knife is different than a peeler. A peeler works, and is safer, but once you get the hang of a paring knife, it works better than a peeler- it's more of a single motion then having to go back and forth. Plus a paring knife can peel things that a peeler can't, like kiwis. And the good thing is the knife is

Paring knife also. You DO NOT want to start peeling a potato or getting lemon rind with a chef's knife... that's a hospital run waiting to happen.

Wow this is kind of huge. How does it compare with Dropbox in terms of mobile integration? I really like dropbox's carousel app which auto-backs up photos and can quickly go back in time to view older photos. Plus can quickly link to them when on my pc. If Amazon has the same, I'm in.

they are 3000k, which is slightly neutral. This means instead of having a soft white light that 2700k gives, it will be a little harsher- like halogen. 3000k is actually perfect for a kitchen as it brightens the work area more without feeling like a hospital, just not sure it is great for a living room or bedroom

This will be fantastic for sports games... right now current gen sport video games look fantastic, except for two things- the grass looks fake as anything, and the crowd looks awful and unrealistic. Both minor complaints, but both take away from the realism. Looks like this card could fix one of the two issues.

The book is better than the movie, anyway. In the movie, the dad is completely insane. In the book, while the dad goes insane, you actually feel bad for him.

Along with what F.A. said, a lot of people in NYC, especially Manhattan, live in apartments and walk-ups. Would you want to carry a bike up and down three flights of stairs every day? There isn't always an option to lock it outside, plus it is prone to weather damage and being stolen then.

Exactly. You can't do that right now. You either have to pay for an ENTIRE day of use, which is expensive for one round trip use, or pay for unlimited uses. For these short hop trips, why is there no option to pay by the minute?

Yeah but you should always wear a helmet anyway- while you are visible, one pothole or person texting instead of looking where they are going, and you are screwed.

People who live in the suburbs. Metro North and LIRR does not allow bikes on trains during peak hours since they take up a ton of space. If you take MNR to Grand Central, do you know how much of a pain it is to get to, say, Columbus Circle or Chelsea Market by subway?

I mean long distance compared to walking. For example, I work by Bryant Park. Right now the farthest I can walk for lunch is maybe 52 and 32nd. I can go a little farther along a subway line, but not much west to east. With citi-bike, I can ride over to, say, Chelsea, and still be back to work on time.

There really needs to be a pay by the minute option, or say, an hour of use. That would allow people to take the bike out to go for a long-distance lunch or to ride from work to grand central or penn station on really rainy days when they would normally walk. That is price prohibitive right now because you can only
