Punishments are needed, punishments are good. Everything in moderation. If you believe otherwise, you’re not a parent.

Lol. You’re clearly not a parent. Have you ever pulled that passive aggressive “you seem to have a lot of anger” on any child over 10? Seems like it. Birth a kid that you don’t just see a few hours a day, and then we’ll talk, hmmm? You seem to have a lot of naivete.
You’re a nanny and a babysitter. Sorry, but giving an example of “don’t punish a child if he fell and got hurt and starts to cry” has nothing to do with dealing with discipline issues of real kids.
My father was a hitter, and while I consciously avoid hitting, I do remember being scared to death of doing anything wrong to my dad. I think that the idea that parents should be all-kind and all-benevolent may be the current philosophy, but I don’t know if it’s making better people. Sometimes you need a parent, not a…
This article sucked. I don’t believe in spanking or anything, but this whole parenting is so precious is getting me annoyed. A kid needs to be told no, and sometimes, they need to be punished.
There are times when you need to give the child an alarming NEGATIVE reinforcer to avoid stupid things that will get them killed. If your kid runs up to the street and you catch them in time, a big slap on the hand will shock them into realizing it was bad. They cry, they may tantrum, but for a young child, you can’t…
I recently read something that proved that The Stanford Prison Experiment actually wasn’t as bad as urban legend says, and that the guards thought they had to play a particular part.
I can’t see the embedded video. What is it?
There’s no such thing in Los Angeles, and the rentpocalypse is strong here. Many economists agree that to abolish it would change nothing but enrich landlords.
So you’re suggesting this man be institutionalized for life?
I loved, loved, loved the trailer for the third movie. The music was done expertly. The actual music during the movie left a lot to be desired.
Same. Hated Dumbledore. HATED. THe first one was too frail and breathy. The second one was too shouty and bombastic.
This comment is pitch perfect. I always was the lone dissent, despising Dumbledore casting. (Stop being so shouty! Or so frail and weak!)
Hey, you know what might work? Let’s give everyone guns, and then guys might think twice before they hurt someone! What could go wrong?
This case makes me so happy there are women that are Supreme Court Justices. There should be an equal measure, because without them, they would have lost this case. Damn you Scalia, Kennedy, Rehnquist, and Thomas.
It scares me to think what these belt-hitting boys do when they get old enough to be outside a school’s observant eye.
It’s not a popular opinion around here, but same sex schools - to me - are the way to go. My kids go to a very religious Jewish school, with a strict dress code (for boys too! No shorts allowed, no short sleeves) and respect for women is drilled relentlessly.
This is why I love commenters. Off to google.
My friend was getting her breasts examined by the Gyno, and he said, “Great boots.” My friend heard “boobs”. Much hilarity ensued.
If I were president, I’d do all kinds of risky crap like jump out of airplanes and go big-wave surfing and eat expired hot dogs. And any time my advisors pleaded for me to be more cautious, I would scream at them, NO. I MUST BE STRONG FOR THE PEOPLE! This is how I will earn their adoration and then pass my global…
