He’s looking for a new job. So. . no.
Exactly! Everyone else is about to die, and you think they won’t, and it’s like, “NOPE! Sword to the heart and dead!”
Catelyn is really kinda dead in the books, too. Lady Stoneheart resembles her only by face.
Yeah. Remember when women were appalled that Sansa was thrust into this horrible storyline and raped multiple times, brutally? And abused? But all the (male) commenters said, “Don’t worry! She’ll be fine. She’ll be all empowered by this and rule the north and have a great storyline.”
6-8 unpaid leave is accurate - but then you forgot to mention family leave on top of that. So that’s an additional 6 weeks of leave. Add a pregnancy disability (up to six weeks by doctor’s note, which all too many are eager to hand out), and you can have a substantial amount of time off.
Actually, many studies show (especially in CA, where the state pays for maternity leave and family leave) that maternity and paternity leave does not cost the employer any additional costs, and in fact saves money in the long run.
I’m all too familiar with employment defense. Especially in at-will states, like CA. They can claim you were let go for unrelated reasons, they can deny unemployment because you were late (and they can have proof). Ultimately, while judges mostly rule in favor of employees, the process often scares people off.
Also! To clarify (for California residents):
Yep. Which makes all of Hamilton Nolan’s posts about paying taxes all the more infuriating.
All too common. Where I work, the HR person is actually the boss’s son, and he routinely gives out stupid advice. When I informed him I would be taking family leave in a few months, he told me a lot of falsehoods. I ended up emailing him and every single executive on the roster, saying, “According to CA law, I’m…
Got it. So now science is not good enough when it comes down to choosing treatment and therapy for an illness. Got it. These aren’t my opinions, as you repeatedly state, these are findings in large scale scientific studies. Get back to me when you’re preformed one of those.
1) Saying that gender reassignment surgery and intense hormone reconstruction is not empirically supported is not the same as advocating murdering transgenders or even being impolite to them on the street. You’re obviously not all that intelligent if you have some weird knee-jerk reaction like this.
I get that gender ROLES is a societal construct. But first of all, incomplete Y penetrance (even the genetic terminology sounds aggressively masculine) isn’t all that common. I don’t like using real androgyny to force Jenner’s experience here, because the two issues aren’t at all similar.
He has decided that changing your sex is a fiction. This isn’t a value judgement, it’s basic biology.
Blah blah sometimes people are born with XXY or with vulvas. Is that the case for Caitlyn Jenner? No.
Except by your own logic, you should be scientific and follow empiricism, and the science says that hormone replacement and drastic surgery actually does not resolve complex transgender issues, so much that it has been discouraged as part of policy because of poor outcomes.
You’re part of the problem. If psychiatrists with decades of experience and clinical research backing them have determined that our current methods of resolving ‘trans’ issues are erroneous, then I’m not sure why we’ve decided that if you’re Liberal, you MUST be okay with everything someone who purports to be…
