Which is good. I’m never a fan of every character marrying each other (helloooo Friends), but it’s the lazy writer’s way of resolving things. So it will probably be the show’s ending.

Peter Dinklage enhances every scene he’s in. He’s just a fantastic character, and he doesn’t quite make it in other movies the way he sells his role here.
I agree with you in that the show’s creators are pretty awful at character building/character continuity. Littlefinger is meticulous and omniscient and then is sloppy and stupid. Cersei meets her ex-lover turned fanatic who is angry at her and decides to appoint them control over her kingdom (which is what book Cersei…
No. This isn’t Voldemort here.
Here’s what i don’t understand. Last season Stannis and Melissandre were all, ‘THE WHITE WALKERS ARE COMING.’ This season? They’re back to their King of Westeros mission. I don’t get it. Why aren’t you staying and fighting by the wall? Remember you said that without the wall, everyone is dead anyway?
I’m not looking for optimistic fantasy. I don’t mind a hefty dose of realism. However, it wasn’t exactly realistic to have literally everyone suffering incredible agonies without a touch of hopefulness. I’m not looking for the Everything Works Out Great (LOTR), but I am looking for something aside from snuff films,…
6-8 unpaid leave is accurate - but then you forgot to mention family leave on top of that. So that’s an additional 6 weeks of leave. Add a pregnancy disability (up to six weeks by doctor’s note, which all too many are eager to hand out), and you can have a substantial amount of time off.
Actually, many studies show (especially in CA, where the state pays for maternity leave and family leave) that maternity and paternity leave does not cost the employer any additional costs, and in fact saves money in the long run.
I’m all too familiar with employment defense. Especially in at-will states, like CA. They can claim you were let go for unrelated reasons, they can deny unemployment because you were late (and they can have proof). Ultimately, while judges mostly rule in favor of employees, the process often scares people off.
Also! To clarify (for California residents):
Yep. Which makes all of Hamilton Nolan’s posts about paying taxes all the more infuriating.
All too common. Where I work, the HR person is actually the boss’s son, and he routinely gives out stupid advice. When I informed him I would be taking family leave in a few months, he told me a lot of falsehoods. I ended up emailing him and every single executive on the roster, saying, “According to CA law, I’m…
True. I think that both the books and the show revealed Young Cersei’s character to be conniving, murderous, and uncaring of who gets in her way as long as she gets what she wants. Maybe that’s testement to Tywin’s upbringing, maybe that’s being spoiled, who knows. But Margaery at least has shown an interest in the…
That’s so true. I was also deeply horrified at the implication that a child (who looked so shocked you know they must have hurriedly brought her up from the kitchens or something) was being taken away and no one - even the guards with Meryn who were clearly “...the hell?” - said anything.
Spartacus was great that one season. Then, all hell broke loose and I cut the show loose when it got too ridiculous.
Outlander is impossible. I dragged myself through the first book, and couldn’t deal with the rest.
This is the reason why Jaime scenes also take me out of the story. Everyone looks appropriate for the part, and then all of a sudden you have Jaime with his modern, short haircut, and Daario looking like some hipster grad. Even Bronn doesn’t quite look the part anymore.
Yes, yes, we saw it. But we thought (1) it was a plot device to show how ruthless Melissandre was. (2) it might be done offscreen, without Stannis’s consent.
And to add to the horror, I think the hourglass wasn’t there to protect the kid, but to get paid accordingly. (one hour = $x)
