Maybe he said it as a throwaway line. Maybe he said that she does get sacrificed eventually. Maybe George Martin is trying to get people to hate the show versus the purity of his own books - I wouldn’t actually say he’s above such petty things.

It didn’t seem to matter all that much for Sansa and Cersei. I think the thing happened with Cersei, they got a LOT of press for it, and a light bulb went off in their heads.

If you ask me, they’re all mad. Stannis is mad. Joffrey is mad. (was) Cersei is mad. Ramsay Bolton is mad.

Good point. Okay, I’ll accept that.

It’s interesting. This post contradicts itself, but this last note is key:

In the future. Maybe. Others are saying something along the lines that Stannis never actually ordered the killing either.

He was stuck. He’s always been stuck, trying to merely sway Stannis with words, because he’s never been able to defy him.

Yeah, sorry. My comment was that I agree with you, not that I don’t. I don’t like that I myself am going online to say, “This is it! I’m done!” But that’s exactly what I’m doing because if I wanted to watch snuff films, I’d go out and watch snuff films. Thanks.

No, Martell was listed. Dorne wasn’t.

I know. Granted, she takes out some other minor dude, can’t remember the name. But without all this pedophilia context.

I don’t think it was stupid. It felt true and real. What felt untrue was (1) Stannis’s decision to burn his daughter alive. (2) His stone cold face during it.

    So Many More Questions:

It’s so obvious now. He kept staring at her. She was in the whorehouse. He needs “fresh ones’. Duh. I’m pretty much expecting some horrible rape scene which is “redeemed” at the end when she kills him.

Exactly. What is this all FOR? And then they die and the whole thing starts again. It amazes me how short sighted they all are. Tywin Lannister - at least - understood that the most important thing was family.

Also, the writers have never trotted out the “realism” excuse. That’s one the commenters have made up. There is no realism in this show - dragons, zombies, magic reincarnations, etc.

I don’t like people who go on to comment, “I’m done with this show!” As if the writers care or are interested in your personal opinion.

No. People blindly follow religion when it appears to improve their own station. When it puts them in danger and they’re actually being confronted with cruelty to their own persons, they tend to leave if they can. These people in Stannis’s army aren’t Lord of Light followings - they’re sellswords, most of them.

Yeah, that was weird. His hide is supposed to be a lot denser than that. The point about dragons is that you can’t just throw some spears and take them out - they’re a game changer and unstoppable.

Because Tywin always acted in his own best interests. His children are important to the line, and therefore must be protected. Having people kill off his children would make them fair game for blackmail and reprisals, so to avoid looking weak all have to be protected, regardless of your personal feelings about them.

At the time, it made sense because it was his rightful inheritance, instead of his younger brother’s, which is just treasonous. But that killing was done seemingly without his knowledge, and seemed just like a happy fortune.
