Personally I’m tired of people attacking interracial relationships. I hated when Jill Scott did it several years ago and I hate it now. Because underneath the rant about interracial relationships is the hatred of biracial people. We get it, you don’t think we should exist.

I agree but isn’t this particular movie a true story? I don’t think it belongs quite in the same category because it was Kumail’s real life experience with his current partner and not a fictional creation. Thoughts?

How would you pronounce Searyl? Like Sean? Ostensibly the baby’s name would sound like Cheryl and people would take cues from that. Surprised the name is not more gender neutral.

I personally think this is a goofy thing to do, but it doesn’t matter — 95% chance Searyl is indisputably girly or boyish by the time they turn 5. And if it means people will buy fewer nauseatingly gendered things for the baby, I can only be supportive.

I don’t suppose it matters on the birth certificate, but it does seem a little foolish to just pretend sex has no relationship to health. You don’t need to force anything on a child, but that is medically necessary information regardless of what gender, if any, the child identifies with.
