Let’s not go that far — the PS1 Classic feeling like a cynical, rushed attempt to cash in on the NES/SNES Classic’s success doesn’t cancel out Sony’s incredible stable of critically acclaimed and commercially successful first-party games, which has been its biggest advantage all generation.
As a former Netrunner player I appreciate how much fun deckbuilding can can be, but I agree with XwingVmanX: it’s a privilege for those with money and time to spare. It feels a little tone deaf to patronize people for shying away from deckbuilding.
It means we won... all of those sneers and jeers growing up... we endured them. We prevailed and triumphed.
Say what you will about the movies, Cavill was a good Superman given what he had to work with.
I hope they change it to the dedication to his grandma. Goes to show family is important.
Edit: lol I just realized I responded to you yesterday already haha. Sorry, I promise I wasn’t trying to double down on the lecture lol.
Often, a minority doesn’t feel comfortable discussing their experience openly in the presence of the majority group. Having spaces exclusive to the minority means they can speak more freely, among other benefits.
Because the “behavior is not tolerated” Doesn’t work. People argue what counts and what doesn’t, people do things behind their back, people complain that that’s discriminating against men and often times men can push women out simply by being there.
Consider Riot instead just said men can’t talk over women and anyone…
Addressing inequality is not as simple as drawing a line across history and declaring that from that point forward, everyone will be treated the same. It would be great if that was how the world worked, but that’s not how the world works.
The dude who called Reddit manbabies actually described it really well:
No, that’s creating the opportunities for the discriminated party to partake.
Here’s the thing. Women aren’t banned from working at riot. We’re not banned from playing games. It’s not like there’s some law, or restriction playing against us.
We’re pushed out. We’re drowned out. We’re harassed out.
Allowing men to attend…
It’s different circumstances. I’m not a woman but if the shoe were on the other foot and I were trying to enter a field dominated by women and heard horror stories about the way men were treated, I’d want to hear about entering the industry from other men who had gone before me without spin.
I don’t think you realize that a woman’s only event is not the the same as the systems and culture in place that prevented women from having a greater degree of influence in gaming.
Martin Luther King explains at length in his books why what he called "positive discrimination" is the only way to bring about equality. You should read them.
Riot asked some employees representing Riot not to publicly engage with the controversy
Wouldn’t matter, aside from closing it entirely which would likely be a massive hassle.
We have a train bridge like this in my city. It is on a road that has 10 signs before you get on it that say “No Commercial Traffic” and “No Trucks” and “Low Bridge”. Once on the road, there are signs every few hundred feet warning…
Exactly. I haven’t heard a kind word and I’m supposed to fork over to avoid being walled out? Get fucked, Bungie. I’ll have to just keep myself busy with some low profile titles like Spider-Man, RDR 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield V, etc.
You can still do a good amount, but it will leave you wanting.
“Beast Morphers” Hm, yeah... what’s the first thing that makes me think of?
