I couldn’t tell which parts of this are meant to be sarcastic (the jokes - Craig as a coach and advice columnist, for example - were definitely funny; don’t get me wrong). Just looking at his responses here, all I heard from him was, “I’m tired as hell, I need a vacation, we just finished filming, call me in a year or

ok. I was leaning toward it concerning that. But knowing so little about the character (I had no clue what his backstory was before reading this article, and didn’t know of his existence until recently), I figured his being Purple - and being called “Purple Man” - seemed just as likely.

All that? He must be related to the Micromachines guy.

So the winners of the “contests” get to back “home” (to the 616 Universe)...while the losers are, dead...or what?

Geez...I think 2 or 3 of us in the comments can save them the time and (the only important thing) money needed to collect/analyze (ultimately ignore) “data and research,” and to conduct their “worldwide study,” right here and now. Let’s give it a shot:

Wasn’t the “kumate” in “Bloodsport?”

The header image reminds me of the style used when Calvin’s imaginary characters - from “Calvin and Hobbes” - were depicted as adults, in a more “realistic” fashion - particularly Iron Fist.

Simmons rescue scene evoked imagery from Superman: The Movie: Superman and Lois’ flight above Metropolis - where he tests the strength of the joints in her fingertips...and he drops her!! - then her drowning in the sand filling her car (her hand reaching out) at the end.

It’d suck if Miami getting a baseball team was the only thing the movie really predicted...go Cubs.

“ Look, I may well be grading Gotham on a curve, having been forced to watch season two of The Strain each night before Gotham airs.”

over what, though? The link in the article says nothing, other than who plays the character.

Can you (someone) elaborate on Purple Man being the “source of much consternation” - and have you guys addressed this here, at io9 before? I don’t recall seeing anything about this, or why (I can only guess, from this article, it’s either over his abuse, or perhaps the Purple Man name and/or skintone...maybe the lack

Like a sh** attempt at Superman via Ralph Steadman.

SPOILERS - Notes/Questions/Musings

Had no idea the the premiere was airing last night until I came across an ad yesterday afternoon. Wasn’t sure if you guys were covering it still - I checked Monday’s “This Week’s TV” post after seeing the ad, and didn’t see it on there.

No contest.

Anyone else ever take a bucket (or pile; handful etc.) of stuffed animals, and toss them on the floor to walk/leap onto, and try to make it across the house (your room to the downstairs kitchen, or something), because the floor was “lava?” (keeping balance was especially hard if the walls had spikes on them.)

Kind of like “Kung Pow: Enter the Fist”?

I thought they dumped the Lance/Mockinbird idea fairly recently (I actually kept thinking about whether or not any scenes that involved Mockinbird and/or Lance were impacted by - or were supposed to have an impact on - the cancelled spin-off, or if anything was changed due to the cancellation, during the season 3

Outside of having to “contort to form a table-like shape,” as well as possibly having their genitals spray-painted, I don’t see why this would be so objectionable - more like it’s seeing the sexual acts in writing, is what’s causing people to take notice. Are there other things that people are required to do?
