You make interesting points, but I’d still rather play on tracks specifically designed with battle in mind. Give me an arena full of interwoven tracks going over and under each other. Give me an arena with lots of cover and places to hide.

Hmmmm, I notice in that first DS3 gif, the enemy doesn’t stop his animation for the player’s backstab. He doesn’t seem to go into a preset animation for it until the strike itself connects.
