My BMW’s panoramic sunroof stopped working at year 5. My VW diesels fuel filler tube safety broke in year 2 preventing me from being able to fuel it.

Compared to the Ford/Mazda transmission problem? Various sludge issues on other engines? Takata?

I’m far from a Tesla enthusiast, but unless this is impossible or insanely expensive to fix (the Business Insider piece, in typical Business Insider style, gives no hint of what the repair cost might be), I’m not sure why this is a big deal. Cars have parts that wear out with time and use and require replacement.

So you’re the a-hole. Good thing you don’t have money then, Josh. You don’t have to worry about acquiring class you clearly don’t have.

It's just common courtesy and class. Obviously the author has none. And yes its because you didn't pay up for first class.

So since you can’t take the “they’re so slow” route, you’re choosing the “the quality of the building must be awful” one. Got it.

Tesla’s Shanghai plant is slated to finally open this month”

“In the book, Neidermeyer recounts how his critical coverage of Tesla at The Truth About Cars lead to him being branded a “short” by Telsa itself.”

I’d be happy to read something by a neutral party with great insight.

That was in 2010. By that time the Tesla Death Watch was ended. It was unwillingly ended at the end of 2008 at the request of the readership:

Oh how different Jalopnik would be if Tesla would only run paid ads on their site...

I am as far from a Tesla apologist as you will find. As a car enthusiast, I enjoy keeping up to date with the latest trends and subscribe to a few automobile publications. Through the years, I have come across a few articles written Edward Niedermeyer and have all had a very negative slant toward electric cars,

If this guy ran a column about a Tesla death watch why would I think he would write the book in a fair manner.

Edward Niedermeyer Is the quack that has made a career about attacking Tesla Motors and anything Tesla. I remember his hit piece about Electrek connection with Tesla (see link below). I am surprised that Jalopnik would promote this quacks book.

You mean the jackass deadspin rushed to valiantly defend against incompetent GMs, saying he just needed an organization who would let AB be AB. That aged as well as a magary chili fart casserole.

Counterpoint:  Tesla has good engineers because of their boss.  i.e., they seek work as Tesla and do good work because they believe in Musk’s vision.

It is amazing. I daily drive a Model 3 and it’s like being stuck in 1st gear of a V12. Sharp steering, very low center of gravity with basically no body roll. Accelerates so fast it makes you sick. Even the regen braking can make you feel sick until you get used to it. It’s like aggressive engine braking in low gear.

I bought a Model 3 earlier this year and I have to say... I’ve totally drunk the proverbial Kool-Aid with Tesla vehicles.

I haven’t driven an electric car myself, but riding as a passenger in my colleague’s Tesla was easily the most fun I’ve ever had in a car.
