Sure killed this one pretty dead.

Well, as someone who does, I guess it makes me feel kinda normal…

Not gonna make it. Just sayin.

They’re very different in the same way that a BMW M3 and a Jaguar XF are very different cars. Also, most Maserati clients I’ve met aren’t exactly gearheads, which is in sharp contrast to any Alfa Romeo client I’ve had. In fact, many Maserati clients haven’t even heard of Alfa Romeo, nor are they aware of the FCA

Hyundai Genesis. Reliable, has all the luxury creature comforts, cheap to own and scoots well. Here’s a 2015 for $20k in Norco.

Seriously. I have to add like 3 paragraphs of filters to ublock just to filter out all the crappy videos Gizmodo & co. push on every page, but the one time a video would acutally be useful and they don’t include it?!

Not having to hear an entire Arcade Fire song is really just doing a service to the audience.

I can’t believe you read this article and that’s your takeaway.

The point is that self-driving technology has to be better than a human.

This unrealistic standard is actually highly detrimental to the society. If standard for technology acceptance is that is should be better then the best human drivers as opposed to merely “as good as”, then by refusing to deeply it you are leaving millions marginal-to-awful human drivers on the road and by extension

Yeah, sorry, no. That system is calculating vectors for everything around it, and was no doubt aware of the victim’s position, direction and velocity. The same as it would be if you were there standing on the curb at the time. If you had been on that curb and decided to start moving into the path of the car, there’s

This makes no sense and you’re insane. A person jumping in front of a car isn’t a victim and calling that victim blaming is seriously bullshit.

Why isn’t the victim due the blame if, in the words of the person who has actually seen the video, “it’s very clear it would have been difficult to avoid this collision in any kind of mode [autonomous or human-driven] based on how she came from the shadows right into the roadway”?

Why isn’t it enough if the machine is

I will take an autonomous vehicle that is as good as a fully focused human driver all day long. Since most people on the road can’t drive for 15mins without making 4 Instagram posts and responding to 36 texts while eating two big macs...

Or anyone with a pulse.

$77,000?

I look forward to the day when you can write a story about women drivers without it being another soapbox moment. If you want people to stop treating women drivers as some sort of outlier, stop writing articles that keep emphasizing it. The achievements are real, no need for the Jezebel snark.

The levels of autonomy have nothing to do with technologies involved.

Meh, give me the Tesla Roadster

I have a very strange love for this movie. The book is very different and not bad (I don't think it's as good as the similar The Long Walk by a mile) but King swears he wrote the book in a week and it shows in both good and bad ways. It's very slight, somewhat juvenile, but has a nice pace that works for the concept.
