The real crime in Mexico is renting a car. The old bait & switch. My Jetta was $143 for 9 days in July in Cabo. PLUS their mandatory insurance that apparently no American insurance covers. So the total jumped to $560.

I think the price tag is mostly location. Any new 1500 square foot apartment in a trendy NYC hood is gonna run you $1m+. You can add features like these to a much less expensive stand alone home in a Cleveland suburb if you wanted to.
