Its not required reading by all means but, some people do look for information provided by them that changes from episode to episode. Luckily for those of us that are interested in the information that was once provided there are other ways to locate what you are looking for.

My point is, the credits are there to literally give credit to the people that worked on the show, to identify music used and other bits (some contractually obligated), if they are going to crap all over them by making them illegible they should just remove them altogether.

Shortened intros can be acceptable but the truly disgraceful act that is on more and more channels is when they mute and fast forward the end credits then shrink the already small and now blurringly fast moving text to one forth of the screen.
