The reason you're having no trouble is because you're on Durandal, which is on the JP datacenter. It was specifically the NA/EU datacenter that was having problems.

I never used Mou Ryo. He's a pretty shit demon. I think for Xi Wangmu I focused more on absorbing/repelling/nulling her attacks than abusing her weaknesses. I don't remember her being a difficult fight at all. The only difficult fights in the game so far were Minotaur and Medusa. I'm about 40 hours in currently…
Sounds like you were under level for the fight or you did your stats wrong.

Yeah it didn't get good til a year later. I admit I didn't play much the first year because the UI was awful. But it was pretty awesome at 1.19 to 1.23. I still miss aspects of it.
Did you play after patch 1.19? Experience gains were so not-random you could hit level 50 in three days.
I enjoyed 1.0 more than any MMO other than XI. A lot of people never even played the game and simply echoed the opinion because it's fun to bash something.
