You are me. English is the only thing I'm able to think about long enough without hating, but do I really want a job in academia or publishing? Or to try and fail at a job in academia or publishing???? This isn't comforting advice at all, just know that you're not alone.

I got engaged two weeks ago. Yay!

Currently responding to you instead of working on my take-home that's due tomorrow. I just can't seem to care any more. I could probably use more stress, now that I think of it....

You know what you're passionate about — that is a huge thing! I loved studying political science, I love reading about it, and now I do activism in my spare time, but the school part... man, that was not easy.

I'm not offended. It would be awesome if I could go into a trade (more jobs, more money, etc) but it's not for me. I'm going into english, which I'm really nervous about for obvious reasons. It's the only thing I'm really passionate about though.

I feel your pain. Studying isn't for everyone (including me, but I was able to scrape by and get the damn degree). Have you thought about trade school? I'm not asking that because I don't think you can hack it, I'm asking because it really is a better fit for some people (me included!) and is also likely to lead to

I made some progress on my confusing final, but I'm pretty sure typing this 3+ page outline will make me nuts by the time I'm done. Anyways, anyone else stressing over finals nonsense?

Cat shit can be extremely dangerous to both pregnant women and newborn babies. So stop being a twit. Seriously.

Every single time Chris Pratt is brought up, there's always at least one person reminding everyone that he once found another loving home for a cat with needs that he could not accommodate anymore. I guess it's you this time.

its one of the few nonprofits that "achieved" its mission so had to evolve into something else. (in quotes bc its all but eradicated in the US but still an issue abroad)

Did y'all know that March of Dimes began as a campaign for donations to the campaign to eradicate polio? People sent tons and tons of dimes to the FDR White House?! I learned this in the excellent Polio: An American Story.

A restraurant that pays decent wages, and hasn't gone out of business?

I only watched 5 minutes of this thing, but I don't really feel sorry for her because she was SO excited to do it. Like abnormally excited about the role. It's all she's been talking about. She was on the cover of Allure this month and the interview inside was all Peter Pan this, Peter Pan that, how she feels this

Actual Christopher Walken quote: "People have said to me, 'You know, you've made certain choices and so on - interesting choices, terrible choices,' whatever they think. But the fact is I don't make choices and I - I - I - I never have, when it comes to working. I take the best thing that comes next."

Yeah. That was the POINT. That's why she said it.

I love the quote about being scared, but also kind of wanting a broken bone - I was totally that kid!

You think those other examples are painting Cosby in a good light? Cosby's pretty well known for criticizing other African-American men for not adhering to more conservative behavior.

I'm curious as to the editor who thought that an interview with an 11 year old (who isn't Dakota Fanning) would elicit anything but the above material.....

Yes, that's exactly what makes what Buress did so powerful and why it quickly became so viral. They say the best comedy has a grain of truth that we are painfully uncomfortable with. The best jokes are those that tap into the secret things we think but don't want to say. Buress NAILED that.

I remember a woman accusing Cosby like ten years ago, when I was in college. It was a giant, giant deal amongst my dorky little clique who inhale media news, but then it kind of disappeared from mainstream conversation. I've never forgotten, though.
