I think Chasing Amy holds up pretty well; it's just one guys view on a complicated relationship in his 20's, and never meant to be a be-all story, and there's definitely a good heart behind it. It's not perfect and the language would be different now, of course, but it's still a good story.

I will absolutely consider this exchange when I think about responding to trolls in the future, but I don't look at the commenting history of everyone I respond to. I also want to point out that there are several other promoted comment threads, including this one, showing up as top comments. It's not the only one

I'm not a Chi Omega, but I am an alumna of an NPC sorority, and every time I see something like this, I am so f*cking embarrassed I want to turn in my pin. The only reason I haven't yet is because I feel like everyone once in a while I get through to a collegiate member or two in conversation about why this isn't okay.

As Matt said at the end, I REALLY appreciate the woman talking about how you don't go on a first date with the abuser. You're not told that 6 months down the line, I'm going to hit you. You fall in love with the person before the abuse starts. I think that's such a critical point to drive home for all those who ask,

I totally hate-watched The Today Show this morning but this segment had me floored. As I said on Twitter, if only all their segments were as good as this. I bawled the moment she broke down trying to do a bumper for this piece. Really, really great stuff here.

Guest? Is she not considered a series regular?

I am so super happy about this. Her work on season two was absolutely amazing and heartbreaking. And she looks beautiful.

I'm a little on the fence about this, as I'm still pretty hung up on my last boyfriend (no jerking me around, is a really nice guy but legitimately wasn't ready to be in a relationship). So if he sent me the signal, I'd be flying, but I also do not have anyone new on the horizon. So I can empathize.

Since she called Billy Joel "William," I'm guessing she will go the other way and call Jennifer "Jenny" or "Jennikins."

I really appreciate Chris Martin's commitment to blandness. (Sorry J. Law fans. Maybe I'm just speaking as an old, but she's not that thrilling to me.)

A lot of Protestants have trouble with Catholic devotion to Mary, including the idea that she is without sin. I am not sure why the writer of this article found that to be some radical idea - it really isn't.

"RUBS UPON HER MONS PUBIS"

Yeah, but you know it is shit education. I had a roommate my Freshman year in college who went to an very expensive private Christian school, and she thought Alaska was in the Caribbean because she had only ever seen it in a box and the bottom of a map of the US. I was talking about driving to Alaska and she was

They own commercial real estate that they rent out to business owners. That's how they made most of their money before the show. Now, obviously it's the show.

Jim Bob was a one-term state representative. And the governmental pension entitles him to free healthcare for his entire family for the rest of his life.

I thought it said "wonton," and was like, "How come no one has ever invited me to a wonton party? I love wontons."

Whoa. I didn't realize that it gave out her social security number! What the fuck is wrong with them? I hope she gets a decent amount of cash from those assholes and I'm happy she got her job back. God, this woman deserves a break already.

I have honestly never heard any of the trans folks I know demand that we not use the word vagina in reference to abortion issues. In fact, I've never heard any trans folk object to using vagina except to remind us that vagina =/= woman. Do you have examples of this?

I know, they really have a spark between them—maybe not a romantic one, but it's undeniable chemistry. I have no sisters but I agree with you!

I think there's a difference between Misty Copeland's type of "empowerment" advertising and those like the Dove Beauty Campaign. In Copeland's Under Armour ads, the focus is not on her body as an object that needs to be physically improved, nor is it about promoting the importance of one's physical appearance; it's
