All of this is spot-on. My one, tiny revision would be that currently, women's magazines are very pro-large ass (in a weird, male gaze-y way, in my opinion, but still). This guy is, unsurprisingly, behind the times on that issue as well.

It's not only a fat issue— it's also about nutrition. Also, one (or two, for the kids who receive breakfast at schools) healthy meal a day is a hell of a lot better than none.

I disagree that it has worked. Hardly any but elderly and hyperreligious Jews ever vote GOP, to my knowledge. The Democratic Party is also quite pro-Israel.

I agree with you, except that I see no reason to believe anything other than that the Australian couple— like the surrogate— likely trusted and was severely let down by the agency. The agency is likely exploitative, but why assume that the couple is being so purposely?

That's a really interesting parallel, but it shouldn't necessarily apply, as the surrogate is not, at least in theory, a parent of the child in any sense. It does, of course, highlight just how tricky surrogacy issues can be.
