Woe to thee who stands up in front of a group of coworkers in a professional setting and declares “I prefer they/them pronouns”. That might fly in your freshman gender studies classroom, but nobody is interested in playing your pronoun politics games in the professional world.

Not wanting people to be too personal at work makes someone ‘autistic’? Niiicceee....

Disagree. I much prefer dogs to men.

They make up like 4% of the US population. Is this really necessary?

Everyone acts like there is a over abundance of homosexuals and everyone is being so intolerant. When in reality, they make up such a small percentage of the country that it doesn’t even matter.

In your seventh paragraph, you write:

So the goal is to have people walk on eggshells and police casual conversation?

I was on board with your comment until the ‘autistic’ jab. What gives? Whyfore? Why is this the new insult? It sucks.

I’m happy using gender neutral but no way will I ever start a conversation by asking what someone’s preferred pro-noun is.

I’m from NY, so a simple ‘yo’ works for a single person, as in “Ay Yo!”. and for a group, it’s you’s as in “Where you’s all goin’?” With this accent most o’ yous think I’m an idiot, but fuckem.

Why does your sexual orientation need to be part of your work life? It shouldn’t define you as a person, for one thing, and it shouldn’t be a topic of conversation at work. Do your job, go home, get paid. Period.

These are all great... but, as an LGBTQ person myself... they seem so “high concept.” For me, what makes me feel like I have allies is when people do little things like not presume my partner is the opposite gender or just ask about my partner.

She’s 17 in this. 17. She wrote Wuthering Heights as a 17 year old. Always makes me feel inadequate.

Kate Bush is amazing for a lot of reasons. She is truly what you call a groundbreaking artist. She was one of the first people to really get into doing music videos and she went at it like an experimental artform, which is why a lot of her early ones are trippy cheap things, they were just trying stuff out. She also

I’m sorry softbrush is being a douche. When folks don’t know about something cool, I don’t understand the response of ‘well you’re ignorant and less cool than me - ‘neener neener’’ instead of ‘welcome to this thing I love!’

“I’m baffled by the sudden rabid fandom”

Listen to The Kick Inside. Then watch the videos for Babooshka, Wow, and Suspended in Gaffa. Then listen to Hounds of Love top to bottom. That should do the trick.

Now playing

It’s an age thing, which is too bad because Kate Bush is a genius. Eccentric and reclusive and travel-phobic and performing-shy, so the people worldwide who have actually seen her perform live probably number in the thousands.

I’m 28. I only know of Kate of her through my parents who adore her; though that, I do too. At first, her stuff was a bit inaccessible to me, but over time she really wore me down.

She has fans from all corners of the music world:

Yeah it’s not her scene at all.
