I can't deal with people from Los Angeles. I often hear people extolling the benefits of living in LA but as a person not from LA, I haven't encountered one yet that doesn't absolutely annoy the fuck out of me when they speak.

He seems more like a script kiddie then a real hacker. He used some social engineering, maybe cracked some passwords, and talked a big game for sure, but most likely his exploits were given to him by the hackers he knew. They were using him as "just the face" of the operation.

Oh, I see. The majority of the pods made, and the only ones that I have hands on experience with, were the boxy Tesla I systems; the old TI pods only had 2 monitors and use mostly off the shelf parts. Unfortunately the Virtual World by my house closed down before they rolled out the oval Tesla II systems.

You will save money buying a new machine based solely off the Pentium 4's power consumption. Over the course of a typical machine's lifespan, you will spend more on power then hardware if you run a Pentium 4.
Or they could just get a virtual machine, and run it on whatever hardware they want.
Like I said, high end or specialized parts are still worth some money. You might be able to get 20-30$ for that video card...
