Jesus, yeah. Compared to Trump, but only compared to Trump, W. is Gandhi.

O’Keefe’s face looks disturbingly bloated here, fitting. Keep packing away that free booze, man!
Oh yes. It’s as if he was born to play the role at this age; he’s got the right physical bearing now, thick through the chest and shoulders, plus that massive head. Pretty stunning.
Leslie Feinberg’s death a few years ago was a real blow, and it’s good that it received some attention, but not enough, IMO. Someone who led a really significant and righteous life.
The thing I regret about this would be his obviously alternative appellation, “the Pudzer,” which had to’ve been his nickname in college. Just let me have my stupid little juvenile jokes, they’re the only thing keeping me warm.
Yeah. Out of everyone we lost last year, including Prince (which I don’t see getting over at all, really, and I have to remind myself he’s gone), there was also Phife and Bernie Worrell....still vital and making music.
After living in North Texas for awhile, I’m getting tired of hearing his cover of “Pride & Joy” on the damn radio all the time. But no, he was really great and he seems to get better as time goes on. A great songwriter like Hendrix, and someone who knew how to make music in addition to just playing guitar like he…
Sure, okay. The bar is pretty high for pulling something like that off, and the first problem he seems to have is that nobody around him can keep their mouth shut about how clever they think they’re being.. Wiretapping Mary Landrieu’s phone system, for one — not only highly illegal, but far too complicated a job for…
Am I reading this correctly, that he planned an attack on the Deploraball? Aren’t those his chosen people? I know he doesn’t know what the fuck he is doing, but if you’re actually receiving funding (however clandestinely) don’t you have to have some kind of coherent mission statement, or are his backers as stupid as…
Doonesbury joked about this at the time. Reagan would always smile and gesture at the media crowd, cup his ear in an exaggerated way and bellow, “I can’t hear! I can’t hear!” One Doonesbury strip had Mark (the NPR guy) be assigned the completely pointless “helicopter question,” and he asked something like, “Mr.…
I remember one of the things about the Clinton impeachment that was noted, at the time by George Will, of all people (if I am remembering this correctly), is that the concept of impeachment was intended to also cover incompetency in addition to the “high crimes and misdemeanors” the two presidential impeachment trials…
Exactly. The thing that kills me here is “to pass the time between meetings.” As if the fuckin’ President would like to advertise to his alleged working class base that he’s goldbricking.
I’m old enough to remember all the delicious Anne Gorsuch bullshit, and I’m glad her name is before us right now, again.. The Michelle Bachmann of her day, and she had absolutely no qualms about driving the EPA straight into the fucking ground until it was discovered she had her hand in the till, as it were — and…
I’m feeling completely naive and Pollyannaish because I feel this way, but I’ll just say it — oh, goody goody goody. I want him to rant about this every single day, commit all the resources of the executive branch to this fucking wild goose chase, and drag the whole country through this voter fraud bullshit, only to…
Thanks. Was waiting for this to come up ever since I heard about her today.
“...it was built before catalytic converters, so it runs good on regular gas.”
Yes. The difference here is, and it will be imperceptible to Trump’s base, that Obama leaves with job growth and an economy that is mostly in good shape. There’s no war as such that Obama started in the same way that Bush did — and though I vehemently disagree with the way Obama conducted that part of his foreign…
I don’t know how they really were motivated to uncover this at all (I am as far removed from the situation as one can be and still be in academia), but I imagine that after the plagiarism issues with her book, someone got the idea to look up her dissertation for similar issues, and hit paydirt.
It is indeed pretty clear-cut; in the page I saw, about 50 instances, sometimes entire pages, were plagiarized out of a 500-page document. That is a lot. And those bits couldn’t be construed as sloppy scholarship either.
Yes, totally, but the prospect(s) of calling the former dissertation chair, all committee members, the former department chair, the former dean of whatever administrative unit of Columbia that was, the former dean of the graduate school and possibly the current provost and former provost and getting them all to render…
