I wanted to like this game but it felt so shallow and surface level, both in writing and in gameplay. It wasn’t a bad game or anything, perfectly competent, but it just lacked this je ne sais quoi.

I couldn’t even get past the first planet, myself. I met all the characters and heard their problems and motivations and was just like “I don’t give a shit about any of this.” I could understand that it was supposed to be compelling but I didn't identify with or care about any of it.

Why? In the end, you’ll end up with the same game for $60. If you buy it in early access, you get the benefit of playing the game early and they get the benefit of stress testing before the final release. Seems like a pretty fair exchange.
